Tealights or tea lights, what's the difference?

You want a cozy atmosphere in your home, with soft candlelight and perhaps a wonderful scent. But while searching for tea lights on Google, you also come across tea lights. Are they the same thing, or is there a difference between tea lights and tea lights?

Don't worry, I'll explain if there's a difference, and if so, what it is. I'll also explain what's best for you to choose for your moment of peace. Because your home deserves more than just ambiance, but a warmth you can feel.

Is there a difference between tea lights and waxine lights?

Well, I can be very brief about that. No... The terms "tea lights" and "tea lights" are often used interchangeably, but they mean the same thing. Both refer to those small, round candles in a plastic or aluminum cup. They are designed to spread a soft glow (and scent) or to heat a wax melt burner.

The main difference is in the name and its origin.

  • The tea light comes from its original use. We used to keep teapots warm with it.
  • Tealight is an old brand name (Verkade's tealight) and is now used as a generic name.

So no, there's no difference in function or form. But one word sounds a bit more elegant than the other.

Why are both names, tea lights and waxine lights, used?

That's quite simple. These small candles used to be placed under a teapot. Before electric hot plates, a small candle would always be placed under a small holder to keep the tea warm. So it was called a tea light.

And then the brand Waxine launched its own version. It quickly became the go-to word. And that's how we often use the term "tea light" these days. We use these small candles for all sorts of things: to create a more atmospheric atmosphere in our homes, to enhance the scent of a scented candle, as a heat source for your wax melt burner, and so on.

When do you use tea lights or tea lights?

Did you know those little tea lights can be used for so many things? They create a wonderful ambiance, but secretly, they're much more than just a cute little candle.

  • Relax after a busy day : Light a few scented tea lights in the bathroom to instantly transform your relaxing bath or shower into a mini spa.
  • Meditation or yoga : A small flame from a tea light can help center your attention, creating a more peaceful experience during meditation or yoga.
  • Time for yourself : Read a book, curl up on the couch with a blanket, and enjoy the warm glow of tea lights. Your moment for yourself starts here.
  • Heating : Use unscented tea lights in a wax melt burner or the old-fashioned way under your teapot.

Tip: Place tea lights in a heat-resistant, stable holder. This way, you can be sure you'll not only enjoy a stylish addition to your home, but also use your tea lights safely.

How do you use tea lights?

  • If you want to use tea lights safely and efficiently, I have a few tips for you. Although tea lights are very small, they still maintain an open flame.
  • Never leave your tea lights unattended
  • Place them on a heat-resistant surface, or even better, in a tea light holder
  • Keep tea lights away from children and pets
  • Preferably use tea lights without paraffin. (Go for beeswax or rapeseed wax.)
  • Do not place your tea lights in a draft.

Did you know? Roeloffs' scented tea lights are hand-poured in small batches using rapeseed wax and fragrance oil. No paraffin or excessive soot, just wonderfully scented tea lights for any occasion and any atmosphere.

Are tea lights sustainable?

Those large, cheap bags of tea lights are often made of paraffin (a petroleum product) and come in an aluminum container that you throw away. Not exactly sustainable, right?

That's why I consciously chose a different material:

Our scented tea lights are poured into recyclable polycarbonate cups.

  • Transparent : Gives a little more atmosphere for the flame if you ask me.
  • Recyclable : very environmentally friendly, right?
  • More stable and safer . Polycarbonate is much thicker and more stable than a thin aluminum cup.

And our tea lights are made with rapeseed wax and scented oil. This way, you can be sure you're not only enjoying a relaxing moment but also making a conscious choice.

Which scent suits your moment of relaxation with tea lights?

Pause for a moment, breathe in, and imagine your surroundings filled with the soft scent of lavender, sandalwood, or a fresh citrus fragrance. Which scent resonates with you?

Every scent has an emotive effect. And that's what makes scented tea lights so much more than just a few simple tea lights.

So do you say tea lights or tea lights?

Actually, it doesn't matter what they're called. It's all about what they do for you. Do you just want a little more ambiance? Or do you also want scent, warmth, and a moment of wellness for yourself?

Choose consciously. Choose peace and choose quality.

Are you ready for a small but lovely fragrance?
